As an interior designer, I spend a lot of time talking with clients about furniture. Not because furniture is simply another item on the specification schedule, but because it shapes how we experience our homes every day.
The sofa where you collapse after a long week. The dining table where birthdays are celebrated. The armchair where you sit with your morning coffee before the rest of the house wakes up.

When selecting furniture, I always encourage clients to think beyond the immediate purchase.
Instead of asking, “How much does it cost today?” I ask, “Will you still love it in ten years?”
The answer often changes the conversation.

The best pieces don’t demand attention, they simply belong. This doesn’t mean every item in your home needs to come from a luxury showroom.
In fact, some of the most interesting homes combine investment pieces with more affordable finds. The secret is knowing where quality matters most.
I always encourage clients to invest in the furniture they touch, use and interact with every day. Your sofa, your dining chairs and your bed. These are the foundations of daily life.

Perhaps that is why I find myself drawn to homes that feel collected rather than decorated. Homes where furniture has been chosen thoughtfully and slowly. A home that feels just as beautiful ten years from now as it does today, and in a world that moves as quickly as ours, there is something deeply reassuring about that.
